July 21st — 12-1pm Pacific – ZOOM — Learn at Lunch: Flexible Course Design Strategies
Building flexibility into expectations for course participation, assignment deadlines, and other aspects of course design is a key equitable teaching practice, afterall, we want all of our students to be successful in class. Far from coddling or catering to student whims, intentional flexibility in course design reduces anxiety, increases student agency, expands modalities for participation, minimizes grade complaints, and offers numerous other benefits for both students and instructors. What kinds of flexibility have you added to your courses lately? Join us to share your insights with peers and explore promising in-person and remote practices!
