Learn at Lunch: Designing Effective Group Work

May 5, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Graphic reads Learn @ Lunch with lunchbox image.May 5th — 12-1pm Pacific – ZOOM — Designing Effective Group Work

Students have mixed feelings about group work, but when designed intentionally, group work has the potential to amplify learning and foster community. Join CAT staff to discuss the mechanics of group work, which include aligning tasks with learning objectives, scaffolding short and long term projects, assigning groups and roles, managing conflict with group charters and norms, and assessing group work effectively (including effective implementation of peer and self-evaluation). We will also discuss strategies for using technology to support group work in both remote and face-to-face courses.

Check out our website to access our shared Google Drive folder and more information.

About the Learn at Lunch Program: These informal conversations explore strategies to support equitable and effective remote teaching. Bring your most pressing questions, ideas and strategies to share, course materials to workshop with your fellow education leaders, and anything else you’d like to discuss. All faculty, teaching assistants, and instructional support staff are welcome to attend.
